Flavio Azevedo, PhD
FORRT - Framework for Open and Reproducible Research Training
Flavio is a political psychologist working as a senior researcher at Cambridge University’s Social Decision-Making Lab, where he focuses on uncovering the ideological basis of anti-scientific attitudes and conspiratorial thinking.
Flavio did his Ph.D. in Political Science at the Graduate School of Cologne University, a German Excellence Center, where he became a Fulbright fellow to study political ideologies, their role in justifying social and economic injustices, and the psychology underlying why people endorse them.
Flavio co-founded and directs FORRT—the Framework for Open and Reproducible Research Training (http://forrt.org/)—an interdisciplinary community of 500+ early career scholars aiming to integrate open science principles into higher education as well as to advance research transparency, reproducibility, rigor, and ethics through pedagogical reform.
Flavio is also the principal investigator of The Psychology of Political Behavior Studies (PPBS), a series of studies informing psychological explanations of political attitudes, values, voting, and participation.
Flavio won several international awards for his work on political psychology and FORRT, but perhaps most notably, he was named as one of the 100 most influential early career Portuguese via the ""Global Shapers"" initiative by the World Economic Forum and his story was recently object of an interviewed by NASA where he talked about Open Science practices and equitable science for all.
