Be Data Lit
Allen Hillery is the co-founder of Be Data Lit (https://bedatalit.com/), an educational resource for data literacy advocates.
In addition to launching BDL, Allen is a teacher's assistant who develops training programs and hosts workshops on data literacy and data storytelling. Allen has a data career that spans 20 years in data reporting, analytics and storytelling supporting sales and marketing teams with insights to drive their business.
Allen has a Bachelor's of Engineering Degree in Civil Engineering from the City College of New York and a Master's of Science in Management Information Systems from Baruch College. Although his path to data has been a more technical one, he's here to help you understand that it’s not the only journey. His favorite quote is - "You don’t have to be a data scientist to be data literate."
Allen is a data storyteller who’s passionate about building community and spotlighting notable figures who used data to make an impact on society. One notable figure he's passionate about getting recognized in the Data Visualization space is W.E.B. Du Bois.
